Japan Unlimited Data SIM Card – FAQ

  1. Can I share a hotspot with this Japanese data SIM card with friends and family? This Japanese SIM card does not restrict hotspot sharing, and generally, you can share the internet connection. Note that although you can share a hotspot, if the connected phone does not support the network frequency of this SIM card or is an older model, there might still be issues connecting to the shared network (hotspot).
  2. I’m going to Okinawa for a trip, how is the reception of this data card? This Japanese SIM card uses the network resources of Japan’s largest telecom operator, SoftBank, which provides nationwide coverage. As long as you are in Japan, the network quality should be fine. Generally, if the SoftBank signal is available to locals, your SIM card will also have a signal, as it uses the same resources; conversely, if even the local telecom signals are not available, it means you are in a remote area like deep mountains, open seas, or extremely remote villages where signal issues may arise.
  3. I’m buying this Japanese internet card for my parents; is the setup complicated? Rest assured, this Japanese data card is one of the few that does not require any setup. Upon arrival in Japan, simply insert the SIM card into your phone, keep the mobile data function on (just like in Taiwan), and turn on data roaming. Wait for about 3-5 minutes, and your phone will automatically connect to the Japanese network. 99% of phones will automatically detect the network and connect without any setup. If your phone does not automatically connect to the network, do not worry. We provide a Chinese manual with the card; just follow the steps in the manual for a simple 30-second setup, then restart your phone.
  4. I see that this SIM card requires roaming to be turned on. Isn’t roaming expensive? Please be assured, you have already removed your Taiwan SIM card, and the one in your phone is our Japanese internet SIM card. Turning on roaming has nothing to do with your Taiwan telecom, so you can use it with peace of mind.
  5. What should I do if I find that this SIM card is not working in Japan? Based on our years of experience, here are some common scenarios for your reference:
    • Not inserting the SIM card: Please insert this Japanese SIM card into your phone, as it won’t work if not inserted.
    • Airplane mode not turned off: Many people turn on airplane mode to use their phones on the plane. After landing in Japan, please remember to turn off airplane mode, as it blocks all communications and your phone cannot connect to any network with it on.
    • Mobile data not turned on: Mobile data (mobile internet) is the same function you use for internet in Taiwan. Please keep it on and do not turn it off.
    • Data roaming not turned on: Data roaming (internet roaming) needs to be turned on to use this Japanese internet SIM. Please check if your phone has roaming enabled.
    • Manual setup required: If your phone does not automatically connect to the Japanese network, please refer to the manual for setup. The setup is quite easy. Carry the manual with you to Japan for any emergencies. When setting up, make sure to enter the correct data, then complete the setup and restart your phone.
    • Other issues: Basically, you can quickly resolve any issues with not being able to use the internet following the above information.
